Reasons Why Finding Your Weaknesses Can Propel You To Success

Nowadays, most people tune in on their strengths and use those to their benefit. This habit is standard practice, and I am totally an advocate for utilizing your strengths and allowing that to help you move forward. At many lectures, I’ve heard how essential it is to focus on what you’re good at for your business or success in any area of your life.

They say that merely focusing on your weaknesses will put you in a negative mindset, and that will hold you back. Only focusing on your weaknesses will cause you to lose passion and confidence in your abilities. So, yes, you should be honing in on your strengths, but if that’s all you do without looking for or being open to your weaknesses, you are crippling yourself.

People who refuse to take a look at their weaknesses never fully reach their potential.

It holds you back just as much as only focusing on what you’re not good at. Knowing my weaknesses has become KEY in my life as an entrepreneur for multiple reasons.

Anybody who has ever formed a successful business STARTED with figuring out what they were good at. Several successful people built on that, yes. The next step is to recognize what you’re NOT good at that relates to your goals. So why is all of this important?

Reasons Why Finding Your Weaknesses Can Propel You To Success

1. It helps battle anxiety and depression

Mental health is a big thing, and it is becoming more and more evident as the studies continue that facing your weaknesses head-on help with depressive and anxious emotions.

The reality of your imperfections and embracing them helps take away that fear factor of your weaknesses being exposed to you by someone else. A big part of anxiety comes from fear of the unknown because you don’t have control of the outcome.

Knowing your weaknesses can help you feel more in control because once you already know that, you have options and you can set up more contingency plans to prevent your weaknesses from halting your growth.

2. You can’t grow without self-development

Self-development is vital for every aspect of your life. When you look at the habits of successful people, you’ll see the pattern of self-development in almost every list. A big part of self-development is self-awareness.

You cannot grow as a person or a business without being AWARE of your weaknesses and what you’re not good at. Why?

Because without knowing what it is, you can’t do anything about it. Knowing your weaknesses puts you in the position to either outsource or, even better, learn, and grow. Learning things about yourself or your business that aren’t positive helps you improve and gain perspective to move forward better.

If you ignore your weaknesses, you’ll never reach the heights you were meant to achieve in your life or your business.

We are all human, and we all have flaws, but we all have the choice to grow and become better as we mature.

I’ve developed so much due to knowing my weaknesses and navigating my steps to improve myself.

3. It gives a good sense of direction

Knowing what my weaknesses are, I feel puts me at an advantage because I always feel like I’m climbing towards something.

When I first started my business, for example, I was terrible at sending out professional emails or responding appropriately to emails. I was beginning so I couldn’t afford to outsource, but even if I could, I knew that realizing this wasn’t one of my strengths presented me with the opportunity to learn a new skill.

Working towards this gave me a certain sense of purpose with my efforts. I always have the next step because I’m continually searching for what area I need to better myself. It helps prevent that moment when you’re just unsure what’s left to do in your business, even though it hasn’t taken off the way you want or imagine.

The more you embrace the potholes, the more opportunity you realize you have to grow, and therefore you never run out of ideas on how to better your business because you’re constantly reminding yourself of what may need to be corrected.

4. Boosts your confidence in both yourself and your business

Confidence is SUPER important. You want to move forward confidently as you look to grow your business or further your career. Another thing that successful people tend to have in common is their high level of confidence.

Being a boss or being a success in your career is impossible without confidence in yourself.

It gives you a sense of leadership, and your clients will see how confident you are in your abilities that they naturally want to take a chance on you.

To gain this kind of confidence, you need to recognize and work on your weaknesses. The better you get at learning and correcting, the more confident you become. Knowing that you’re getting better and better inside and out gives you a new pep in your step. People who educate themselves are optimistic about the fact that they have more knowledge than before as they continue to attempt at furthering that knowledge.

Once I learned how to respond to emails adequately, I grew a new levels of confidence in myself in my business because I just stepped my professionalism game up. The more I grow and learn, the more confident I am in the success of my business.

Concluding thoughts,

Embracing what your weaknesses are is JUST as important as utilizing your shortcomings. It makes your business bigger and stronger. You’ll find yourself beaming with pride down the road as you nursed an idea, and because of your constant thirst for realizing, facing, and turning your weaknesses into strengths, you now have a successful and booming business.

Even better than that? You’ll know that because you’re open to understanding what your weaknesses are, it’s likely to get even better!

My current business weakness that I am working on is my issue with talking too much. I need to learn how to be concise and clear with my clients without over-explaining or talking too much.

My personal weakness is I like junk food more than healthy food, and I am trying to live a healthier lifestyle. What flaws are you currently working on? Are they personal or business-related? Are you taking steps to strengthen those weaknesses?
