12 Laws Of Karma That You Must Embrace For A Better Life

We all have come across the term Karma in Hinduism and many other religions. But what exactly is karma? The philosophy of action is that no one else is the giver of peace or happiness. Read on to get a better understanding of karma and its laws of life.

Karma is a Sanskrit word meaning “action” or “deed“. Karma is understood as- ‘that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect. One’s karma, one’s actions are responsible to bring either happiness or success or whatever.

“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.” ― Wayne W. Dyer

Karma in Different Religions

The concept of karma is the cornerstone of most of the Indian philosophies and religions including Christianity, Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, etc. Karma is mentioned many times in various holy books too. There is no logical proof of the existence of Karma.  Some people believe in karma, some don’t.

In scientific terms, Karma fulfills Newton’s principle: “To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

Many people wonder how mean and corrupt people end up successful whereas truthful and sincere people end up having horrible lives. “He killed many people yet he lives an amazing life!” “She dumped him and married a millionaire and is living a luxurious life.”

If you too think in the same way, remember Karma has its style of working. It may be a little difficult for us when it comes to understanding how karma works.

Karma in Hinduism

Did you know that Hinduism is the third most practiced religion in the world? Karma is a concept that has great importance in Hinduism.

In Hinduism, karma is the power of revengeful justice that makes devotees behave virtuously according to Dharma, that is, the ethical order of the universe. It is the basis of the reincarnation of Atman.

It states how our deeds and actions have an effect on our future lives after rebirth.

“Like gravity, karma is so basic, we often don’t even notice it.” – Sakyong Mipham

In this post, we will be going through the different laws of karma that will help you lead a better life.

1. The Law of Attraction

The first law of karma is the greatest one. Undoubtedly, understanding this law of karma is very important. It states, whatever we put into the universe will eventually come back to us.

So if you think about sowing seeds of love and happiness, the fruits that ripe will bear love and happiness. But if the seeds you sow are of hatred and envy, then expect to receive a similar fruit. As you sow, so shall you reap!

2. The Law Of Karma on Creation

This law states that life doesn’t happen by itself. We need to make life happen. We need to take ownership for leading our lives.

Create a vision for yourself and your life and use the opportunities that come when life throws you a curveball to review your goals and dreams.

3. The Law Of Karma on Humility

This law states that one must accept something to change it. Humility is the quality of being humble.

In a world that’s pushing us to ‘brand ourselves’ and constantly move up, it’s hard to remember to be humble.

Ego is one of the worst things. On the other hand, to be humble is also to recognize that you’re going to make mistakes, but that you can learn from those mistakes and do better.

In short, to be humble is to be compassionate, loving and understanding. When you lose that humility, mistakes always become someone else’s fault.

4. The Law Of Karma on Growth

This law states that we need to change ourselves and when we do so our lives follow the suit and change too. We need to keep growing in life.

Some people are so satisfied with whatever they accomplish and they end up settling. They settle for a menial job and a very simple risk-free life. They don’t like growing up or taking a risk and this is not how it should be.

5. The Law Of Responsibility

This law states that we must take responsibility for whatever happens in our lives. When you take responsibility for your life, you achieve your dreams.

Taking responsibility is the first step towards solving any problem. Unlike, running from responsibility, which will provide a perfect excuse for your subconscious mind to remain inactive and do nothing.

7. The Law Of Focus

This law states that we cannot think of two different things at the same time. Focus is extremely important if you want to get something down.

Multitasking may be a good thing. However, it may not help to get a task done on time. Multitasking is an illusion. The early you savvy the importance of focus and time management, the better it is as you will be able to live a contented life.

8. The Law Of Karma on Giving

This law of karma states that our behavior should match our thoughts and actions. Giving is an act of righteousness that comes from our duty as a human to help others.

Giving necessary doesn’t mean about things and money. Additionally, it can also mean giving your time. Giving your valuable time to your near and dear ones is very important.

9. The Law Of Here And Now

This law of karma states that you cannot move forward if you keep looking backward. Past experiences can be very bad and disappointing.

You can either learn from the past or run from it. Therefore, we need to let go of the past and live in the present moment. We need to enjoy and cherish it.

10. Law Of Karma on Change

Change is inevitable as we all know. It’s not about the changes, it’s about how we react to these changes. We should accept these changes and understand things change for a reason and usually, it’s for the better. Therefore, don’t ever be afraid of change.

Nevertheless, always remember God will never take anything away from you without the intention of replacing it with something much better.

11. The Law Of Patience And Reward

This law of karma talks about patience and reward. The importance of patience should be realized by every individual. Patience in life can make them reach the stars.

With patience, you can avoid making hasty decisions. Patience can fetch you many rewards. Without a doubt, patience is a virtue that everybody must possess.

12. The Law Of Karma on Inspiration

Inspiration is a necessity in life to make progress or evolve. In addition to this, inspiration is an internal factor in our personality. It mostly defined in terms of emotions or thoughts, or a confluence of both emotions and logical thoughts. Moreover, these emotions or thoughts induce us to do/create something in life.

In simple terms, inspiration is not result-oriented approach but a genuine creative feeling or thought that many time leads to innovations and new methods in life.

Conclusion

To conclude, there is no such thing as “good karma” and “bad karma” only karma. Understanding karma is not very difficult. It just means understanding the path to enlightenment through our deeds and actions.

Hinduism and yogis teach that our karma can be related to debits and credits in past lives. Eventually, it can catch up or be passed on. It is not always a direct reflection of our current lives. You must simply choose to give positivity to the universe because that is the righteous way to live.

To sum up, the root of all perfections and happiness lies in our own hands.
