Google, the tech giant released the artist names and songs that trended the most in the year 2015.
Adele leads the music category at number one, just as she has lead pretty much everything this year. The British singer-songwriter was quiet for most of 2015, but she burst back onto the scene later in the year with a deafening crash. From the moment that her comeback single “Hello” hit the internet, people around the world have been searching her name at record rates. Releasing new music certainly helped her Google rankings, but it appears that many were interested in the records she broke, both with “Hello” and her album, 25.
Behind Adele is mysterious Australian pop star Sia, who has made her name both with her own singles, as well as by penning tracks for big stars like Adele and Rihanna.
3) Fetty Wap
In third place is rapper Fetty Wap, who had a massive breakout year. Before 2015, few knew who he was, but by the end of the year, he had scored a number one album and three top ten hits, including the unavoidable “Trap Queen”.
New Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees N.W.A. occupy two spots on the ranking, with late member Eazy-E sitting at number four, and the group itself at six (6). The pioneering hip-hop collective saw an incredible resurgence in popularity in 2015 thanks to the movie Straight Outta Compton, which told the story of how they formed and how they made it big.
5) Sam Smith
In between the rappers at number five is Sam Smith, who kept people talking about him for a second year in a row. While the promotion of his album In The Lonely Hour came to a close after he won four Grammys in February—including Best New Artist and both Record and Song of the Year—he did release a new single, the James Bond theme song “Writing’s On The Wall”. The track is currently up for a Golden Globe, and it made quite a splash when it first debuted a few months ago.
7) Chris Stapleton
Newcomer Chris Stapleton is at number seven, even though searches of his name were not impressive until October, when he performed with Justin Timberlake at the CMAs. After that, millions of people discovered him for the first time, and his career took an unexpected turn. In no time, his debut album Traveller went from off the Billboard 200 to number one, where it stayed for two weeks.
Beck comes in at number eight, mostly thanks to his surprise Grammy win in February. The musician’s Morning Phase was named Album of the Year, when most people were expecting either Beyoncé or Sam Smith to collect the prize. Kanye West almost interrupted his speech, which helped the moment become a viral sensation.
9) Lenny Kravitz
He is at number nine, almost entirely because of an incident at a concert where his pants ripped and his more private areas were exposed.
Pop singer Meghan Trainor pulls up the rear at number ten, and her appearance was to be expected. She released her debut album, Title, in January, and for the rest of the year, single after single became a hit.
This year, singles like “Hello”, “Take Me To Church”, “Blank Space”, and plenty of other massive tracks occupied people’s searches. My favorite is “Blank Space”, althought Taylor Swift was not the most searched celebrity artist in 2015, she deserves lot of love from everyone of us. Keep Rocking girl
